Interested in volunteering at our camp? Outdoor Adventure Camp Volunteer Program Assistants wanted, June 25th – August 3rd.
| Where is Outdoor Adventure Camp?The camp is located at Mount Pisgah Arboretum, 7 miles from downtown Eugene. We have 7 miles of trails that wind though forests, meadows, and along the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. The Arboretum is a non-profit organization managing 209 acres within the Howard Buford Recreation Area. |

What will I be doing?
Program Assistants are high school students who have completed their freshman year. These students assist our counselors with 7-11 year old campers in activities that include hiking, nature studies, wilderness skills, outdoor crafts, singing, storytelling, games, and more. |

What is required of me?
Program Assistants are responsible students who enjoy working with children and love to be outdoors. They are fun to be with, caring, enthusiastic, and ready to learn new leadership skills. At camp, the assistants are support people for activities, interact with the campers, and help keep camp clean and well organized. |

When will I be expected to work?
The Arboretum’s Summer Camp consists of five one-week sessions, June 25–Aug 3 (There is no camp the week of July 2-6.) Camps are held M-F, 9am-4pm. Each camp has a unique outdoor theme. Program Assistants must commit to working full days (9-4) for a minimum of two camp sessions. |

Will you train me?
Program Assistants attend one, half-day training session in June (TBA). Training covers all areas of working with kids at camp– assisting with activities, leading activities, working with kids and successful communication skills. |

What will I get out of this experience?
This is a volunteer experience where you can gain some valuable experience working with young children in the outdoors. The skills you acquire through volunteering at Mount Pisgah Arboretum’s Outdoor Adventure Camp will help you apply for future jobs and provide additional experience for your college applications. These hours may also be used towards fulfilling your schoolʼs community service requirement. |
