Campers will hike, play games, build a wilderness shelter, create things from nature, explore meadows, creeks, and ponds, and indulge in an afternoon Ice Cream Social. Session Topics for 2012:
June 25-29 Tree Keepers
Ever imagined what it would be like to live high up in a tree, like an eagle? Climb a giant oak with tree experts where you will sit in a sling and experience life in a tree! Trees give us food, shade, and the air we breathe. Meet a tree blindfolded, make miniature tree houses, and create fun faces to put on the trees at camp.
Plant a special camp tree that you can come back and visit on your hikes at Mt. Pisgah!
July 2-6 Pisgah Trail Blazers NEW!
This is a camp for kids who love to hike! Hike the mountain on a new trail, eat lunch at the top, and explore the back side of Mt. Pisgah. (Youngers hike the shorter trails in the Arboretum) Learn to leave trail markers for your friends to follow and make cool animal track casts. We’ll all have a chance to hike to the swing trail and make special, personalized hiking sticks. After a long day of treking, crawl into our camper-built wilderness shelter or just hang out in a hammock under the oaks. NOTE: Camp will be in session on July 4th. If you choose not to bring your child to camp on July 4th, you will be discounted for this day of camp ($30 members/$40 non-members).
July 16-20 DaVinci Kids
Explore the wonders of nature through science and art! Leonardo da Vinci was fascinated by the mysteries and magic of nature. We’ll do some fun experiments, sketch the critters that live at Mt. Pisgah, and make mini go-carts! Write your own “DaVinci Code,” hide clues along the trails, and stretch your imagination with our famous egg drop challenge. At the end of this fun week . . . take your family to DaVinci days at OSU, July 20-22.
July 23-27 Suvivor: Mt. Pisgah
Our most popular session every summer! Here’s your chance to work together with fellow campers and build your confidence out in nature. Friendly competitions include obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, the frozen t-shirt challenge, and our famous watermelon race. Be part a tribe that will teach you teamwork and appreciation for all campers. And remember . . . no one is voted off this mountain!!
July 30-Aug 3 Where the Wet & Wild Things Are
It’s getting hot later in the summer and it’s time to get WET! Build rock cairns, explore down at the river, hunt for crawdads, and build a miniature raft or boat. Net aquatic creatures and play on a watershed model. At the end of the day, join in on our popular water skirmishes. (Extra points for soaking a counselor!)
